4-Ingredient Snickerdoodle Soap

For a quick and simple gift to give to friends and family for the holiday season, I decided I would try my hand at soap making using easy to find ingredients to create something both practical and homemade. After concocting a few different soap varieties, I found my favorite by mixing four simple ingredients to create a sweet and cozy scent modeled after snickerdoodles, because what better smell for the holidays than cookies? To create this recipe, I first melted down a few ounces of opaque glycerin, available at most craft stores, in the microwave for a minute. I then added a drop of yellow food coloring and a spoonful of vanilla extract to provide both the color and scent of the soap base. To keep with the holiday theme, I chose a snowflake soap mold from Martha Stewart's collection and dusted the mold with cinnamon prior to pouring in the melted soap in order to give the soap a snickerdoodle-like look once it set inside the mold. After pouring the mixture into the molds, I sprinkled a bit more cinnamon on to the top of the soap and popped it into the fridge for about ten minutes to let it set before taking the soap back out of the mold. With only four ingredients and only fifteen minutes of work, these are simple yet thoughtful gifts perfect for loved ones during the holidays.

Forever Fall

Fall will forever be my favorite time of the year, and with an affinity for darker colors, it also happens to be my favorite time of the year for clothing. If I could wear sweaters, boots, and burgundy lipstick all year round I surely would. As I will forever love fall, all my clothes in this look coincidentally happen to be from Forever 21.

Summer Chambray feat. eShakti

When online clothing company eShakti offered me the opportunity to collaborate with their company, I happily jumped at the chance. eShakti specializes in offering custom online clothing for women ranging from dresses to jackets and everything in-between. What drew me in about eShakti is the ability to customize a piece of clothing to exactly how you'd like to wear it, whether that means shortening or lengthening a hemline or even adding sleeves to a dress. eShakti's aim is to give their customers a high-quality piece of clothing suited to not only their style, but also their body. Since it's summertime and I'm trying to build up my wardrobe with clothing pieces well suited for future internships, I chose this geometric-patterned chambray dress. What I love about this dress is the high-quality fabric and lining used in it's creation. It's a dress designed to last through many wears and washes. When given the opportunity to customize the design of the originally tea-length dress, I opted to shorten the hemline to just above the knee. eShakti is a great website if you are looking for unique and stylish business wear, especially if you're a college student like me looking for trendy yet appropriate clothing for internships.

Review: Bumble & bumble Don't Blow It (H)air Styler

If you're anything like me and don't remember the last time you used a hairdryer to dry your hair, then I've found your next favorite product. When it comes to my own hair, I'm all about saving time and avoiding those dreaded twenty minutes of standing infront of the bathroom mirror while your arm tires from holding the dryer above your head. Recently, I decided to try out Bumble and bumble's Don't Blow It (H)air Styler, which is specifically designed for those days you want to skip the styling and let your hair dry on it's own without the crazy flyways. This product leaves your hair soft and smooth, almost as if you've run your hair through a straightener, without any of the effort. After towel-drying your hair, simply run a dime-sized amount through damp hair, brush it and you're good to go. Bumble and bumble is the only brand I know of offering a hair product of this sort and will be perfect this fall for those of you like myself who have limited time in the mornings to get ready for class. I highly recommend this product to anyone wishing to achieve a more polished appearance without any of the effort.

Lilly For Target Lookbook Released

Back in January, the prepster gods released the news that Target would be collaborating with Lilly Pulitzer to create a 250-piece collection to be sold exclusively through Target. The collection, thanks to this match made in paradise, has now been made public via a Lilly for Target lookbook available online. Now that the veil of mystery surrounding the collaboration has been lifted, shoppers like myself can scope out all 250 items, complete with 15 new Lilly Pulitzer prints created exclusively for Target. The collection, designed to be sold at more budget-friendly prices, ranges from $2 to $150 and includes everything one might find at Target from clothing, home decor, and even beauty. Now for the hard part, waiting. The collection won't be available in stores and online until April 19th, meaning I've got a bit longer to go until I can get my hands on the pink shift dress I spotted while scouring online. Let's hear it for Lilly Pulitzer and Target for giving us all the chance to be a bit more colorful this summer without breaking the bank.

New Specs

Recently, I was given the opportunity to work with the company Firmoo to collaborate on a project involving something vital to my life, glasses. Firmoo, an online glasses company who specializes in both trendy and affordable frames, sent me a pair of prescription glasses in the mail and when I received them, I couldn't have been happier. I received my glasses in less than a week after choosing them online and was impressed not only on the delivery speed, but upon opening my package, the quality of the products themselves. The glasses fit perfectly to my face shape, thanks to Firmoo's try online feature, and also came complete with a cleaning set and case. Firmoo is a great website for those looking for eye-catching frames in colors you might not find elsewhere and is also budget-friendly for those of you on a college-budget like I am.

In the Garden with Oscar, Marchesa and Michael

Oscar de la Renta
Now that the holidays have ended and the dreariness of winter has sunken in, my mind can't help but wander to warmer days and the spring season blooming just around the corner. With fashion always ten steps ahead of everyone else, patterns have been picked, colors chosen, and the spring fashion reports already delivered. While glancing over photos of the Spring 2015 fashion shows, I quickly fell in love with the floral gardens of clothing that were created in shows such as Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa and Michael Kors. Florals, which never seem to leave spring fashion no matter the year, paired with all things lacy were a combination seen across the board in many designer's spring shows. This combination paired with another widely used trend for this season, a subtle throwback to all things 70s, creates the perfect whimsical vibe that fits well with retail brands such as Free People or Anthropologie. Whether it was Oscar de la Renta's garden-themed show with the models themselves looking like real life flowers dressed in petal pink and feathery dresses resembling dandelions or the inner flower child coming to life in Marchesa's collection, everything exuded femininity, class, and of course, spring itself.
